Uniforms
Why uniforms?
We believe uniforms are helpful not just to the students but to parents and teachers as well. The uniform places children in a “school” frame of mind. They eliminate distractions in the classroom, freeing the child to engage in classroom activities and develop their inner self! Feedback from families tell us they experience lower-stress mornings as a result.
How do uniforms support the Montessori curriculum?
Uniforms encourage independence both at school and at home. Children know exactly what to wear each day and can select their clothes without a parent’s assistance. Being about to make choices for themselves provides children an opportunity to experience “freedom within limits,” a defining characteristic of Montessori education. Uniforms are appealing to the eye and promote the concept of order, another fundamental element of the Montessori philosophy.
Functionality
The uniform is simple in design, allowing children to manage their clothing without assistance. This functionality is especially helpful for children who are toilet learning in the preschool.
